Pada cuti penggal pertama yang bermula 20hb - 29hb Mac 2009, Guru-guru Tahun 6 iaitu Cikgu Norbaizura Binti Andy dan Cikgu Suriati Binti Hj Abang telah mengadakan kelas tambahan selama tiga hari dan juga membuat beberapa aktiviti luar sekolah.

Perjumpaan Guru-Guru Tahun 4 (SPN21)

Perjumpaan bagi guru-guru Tahun 4 yang mengajar mata-mata pelajaran Teras, yang telah dirancang oleh Cikgu Norbaini binti Hj Abdullah, Timbalan Pengerusi JAPSER Brunei 1 telah dihadiri oleh lebih kurang 50 orang guru. Turut hadir ialah PPKD Brunei 1, Cikgu Hj Jaafar bin Hj Ahmad dan Pengerusi JAPSER Brunei 1, Cikgu Ismail bin Hj Tia serta Guru-Guru Besar & Penolong-Penolong Guru Besar Brunei 1.

Antara objektif perjumpaan adalah bagi membincangkan cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi guru-guru di dalam pengajaran mata-mata pelajaran baru dengan teknik pengajaran yang bervariasi. Perkara-perkara seperti rancangan mengajar, isi kandungan dan penilaian menjadi perbincangan utama.

PPKD Brunei 1, turut memberikan beberapa sumbang-saran bagi guru-guru dalam meningkatkan kualiti pengajaran. Antaranya ialah supaya guru-guru lebih bertindak berani dan berinisiatif dalam mengenalpasti kemahiran-kemahiran yang MESTI dikuasai murid (must do) dan mengatur perancangan mereka mengikut susunan: 'Must Do', 'Should Do' dan 'Could Do'.

Adalah harapan JAPSER Brunei 1 untuk memberikan sokongan kepada guru-guru bagi menghadapi perubahan dalam pendidikan secara berterusan di samping mempastikan pembelajaran murid diberikan keutamaan.

Sekubit Imbas Warisan Budaya (SIWB)

15 Mac 2009 - Dengan tajuk 'Muzik Tradisional Puak Melayu Brunei', Jawatankuasa Pemimpin-Pemimpin Sekolah Rendah (JAPSER) Brunei I mempamerkan pelbagai alat muzik dan nyanyi-nyanyian Puak Melayu Brunei di samping mempersembahkan 'live' bamukun di hadapan Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan.

Lagu yang didendangkan berkisar mengenai SPN21 telah menghibur hati sekalian yang hadir. Acara Sekubit Imbas Warisan Budaya ini diadakan setiap tahun sempena sambutan Hari Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Pada tahun ini acara berkenaan telah diadakan Sekolah Vokasional Nakhoda Ragam Km13 Jalan Lebuhraya Muara-Tutong.

Tahun ini merupakan tahun yang istimewa kerana tahun ini negara Brunei Darussalam menyambut Hari Kebangsaan yang ke 25 (Jubli Perak). Bertepatan dengan itu, JAPSER Brunei II selaku tuan rumah telah mempersembahkan tarian 'temarok' dan 'aduk-aduk' daripada guru-guru yang berusia 25 tahun dan juga persembahan sajak yang penuh semangat daripada guru-guru yang telah berkhidmat selama 25 tahun pada tahun 2009 ini.

Flag raising at school to mark birthday

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pengiran Bendahara Lama Primary School in Mukim Tamoi to mark the upcoming celebration of His Majesty's 59th birthday. Present at the function were the school principal, Awg Hj Tamam bin Hj Timbang, who officiated the ceremony, and Penghulu Mukim Tamoi, Pengarah Hj Mokti Salleh. JIS students visit Kg Ayer primary schools

JIS students with the pupils of a primary school at Kg Ayer.

Sixty Primary 3 students from Jerudong International School made a study visit to two primary schools at Kg Ayer yesterday.
They first visited Pengiran DiGadong Hj Mohd Salleh Primary School and later Bendahara Lama Primary School.

It was the first time ever for the JIS students to make such visit. The head of the JIS delegate was the schoolteacher, Dayang Fatmah bte Hj Awang Besar.

During the visit, students of Bendahara Lama Primary School presented a performance "Lagenda Lela Menchanai" for the visitors while the JIS students performed "Pantun Melayu". JIS students also toured both schools to familiarise themselve with the schools' facilities and their learning environment.

Mathematics Treasure Hunt Activities by SR Pusar Ulak Blog Editor

Teachers from Sekolah Rendah Pehin Datu Jamil appeared as the winner of the first ever Mathematics Treasure Hunt Activities, 2008 held on 28th May 2008 at Pusar Ulak Primary School. Sekolah Rendah Bendahara Lama and Sekolah Rendah Raja Isteri Fatimah meanwhile came in second and third in the activities.

Present at the event were Senior officers from the Schools Department, Ministry Of Education, headmasters and headmistresses and teachers of Brunei I Primary Schools. The event’s guest of honour was Cikgu Hj Salim Bin Hj Muntol, the Senior Supervisor for Primary Schools in Brunei Areas I and III. He also presented prizes to the winners.

Over 12 groups of teachers from 12 Primary Schools in Brunei I participated in this activity. Teachers are expected to apply these activities with their students back in their own school. The activity aimed to motivates students to learn mathematics in a new learning process. It also enables the students thinking and problem solving skills and at the same time giving the students opportunity to work together as a team.

The event began with a recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ustaz Md Deli Bin Kamarulzaman. The Headmistress of SRPU, Hjh Salwati Bte Hj Mohd Sulaiman, which acts as the Chairman for the Treasure Hunt Activities, delivers a welcoming speech in which she applauded the teachers for continuing to supports and committed in the academic programs organized by Academic Bodies of Brunei I. She also stressed on the importance of teachers to find ways to improve the quality of teaching Mathematics not only for the Upper Primary Level but also from the Lower Primary Level as well.

One of the highlights of the event was a brief talk presented by Dr Leong Yong Pak, a Senior Lecturer from University Of Brunei Darussalam to participants before the activities began.

Contest to raise interest in science

MORE than 100 students from 41 government and non-government primary schools participated in the Base (Brunei Association of Science Education) National Science Learning Resource Competition 2008, organised by the Ministry of Education and Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Also taking part in the competition in the secondary school category were another 102 students.

The theme for the competition was "Passion towards active learning Science and Technology". One of the main aim of the competition was to motivate students interest in science and technology. The competition encourages students to use science and technology in a new and creative way.

It is hoped that the competition will help implement the ministry's vision of the new education system, the 21st Century National Education System (SPN21).The new education system will be implemented to primary one students next year.

St.Andrews school emerged as champion for the secondary school category and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School won for the primary school category.

Whereas the Bendahara Lama primary school won for the best Base booth award.

Present to hand out the prizes during the competition was Datin Paduka Apsah Hj Abdul Majid, the Permanent Secretary (core education) of the Ministry of Education, who also serves as Patron for Base.

The winning students received their prizes and certificates at the Base National Science Project Certificate and Prize Presentation ceremony held at the Press Conference Hall of the ICC in Berakas yesterday. (AIS1) The Brunei Times

Over 200 take part in Kg Tamoi Mosque ceremony

Kampong Tamoi Mosque in Brunei-Muara District held a religious ceremony yesterday, which involved 'Sunat Hajat' prayers and the reading of 'Surah Yasin' verses. It was led by Ustaz Hj Rahman bin Yunos.

Over 200 students from Bendahara Lama Primary School, Hj. Tarif Primary School and Persediaan Arab BSB School attended the ceremony.

The Assistant Director of Mosque Affairs, Ustaz Pg Hj Bahrom bin Pg Hj Bahar, was present as guest of honour. He presented certificates to the students of PSR Tuition Class.

As a token of appreciation, the chairman of the committee, Chegu Hj Tamam bin Hj Timbang presented a souvenir to the guest of honour. The ceremony drew to a close with the reading of doa selamat by Imam Hj Sabtu bin Abdullah.

Saba Darat, Pusar Ulak Win Primary Schools Cross Country Championship

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 44th Primary Schools Brunei I Cross Country Championship was held recently at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

Attending the event as the guest of honor was Cikgu Hj Salim bin Hj Muntol, senior supervisor for schools around the Brunei I and III areas.

Emerging as the champion in the male category was Saba Darat Primary School, while the honors in the female category went to Pusar Ulak Primary School.

The annual activity was organized by the Co-Curriculum Department, which was aimed at instilling sports interest among the students, as well as strengthening ties between the students and teachers.

Best Of The Base

Bandar Seri Begawan - St Andrew's School and the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School emerged as the champions in the BASE National Science Learning Resources Competition 2008 in the secondary and Primary Five categories.

The proud students received their prizes yesterday at a ceremony held at the Press Conference Hall of the ICC in Berakas.

Present as the guest of honor was the Permanent Secretary (Coe Education) at the Ministry of Education, Datin Paduka Dyg Hjh Apsah Hj Abd Majid.

A total of 123 pupils from 41 government and private primary schools and 102 students from the government and private secondary schools participated in this year's competition that carries the theme "Passion Towards Active Learning Science and Technology."

Amongst the objectives of the competition that once again achieved great success with the cooperation from MoE and fully sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum SDN BHD, was to build pupils' awareness on the importance and relevance of science and ICT in everyday life as well as emphasizing the scientific concepts presented.

It was also aimed at stimulating pupils' interests in learning science and technology, evaluating their abilities in creating science project and creating a PSR learning resource to be utilized in primary school. It also hopes to support MoE's vision to implement SPN 21 more effectively and systematically.

In second place in the Primary Five category was Bendahara Lama Primary School Brunei I and Nusa Jaya School Tutong came third.

Chung Hwa Middle School and Sayyidina Hussain Secondary School came second and third in the secondary category.

Bendahara Lama Primary School also emerged as the champion in the BASE Booth Awards followed with Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School in second place and Nusa Jaya School in third in the Primary Five category.

For the secondary category in the BASE Booth Awards, Sayyidina Hussain Secondary School emerged as the winner followed by St Andrews School and Chung Hwa Middle School.

The Primary Five Best Male Presenter went to Tom Anthony of St Margaret's School while Nurfadhlin Afifah Hj Mohd Yussof of YSHHB Primary School was adjudged as the Best Female Presenter.

Shaun Sim Sze Sien of St Andrew's meanwhile won the Best Male Presenter in the secondary category and the Best Female Presenter award went to Adeline Poh Went Jhin of MSPSBS. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin 26 October, 2008

Quran Reading Competition Winners

Khairudin Bin Haji Jumaat from Sekolah Rendah Pehin Dato Jamil emerged winner in the Azan Subuh competition and Nurul Ain Bt. Mohd. Alias from Sekolah Rendah Sungai Siamas winner in "Menghafaz Ayat-Ayat Lazim".

The competition was organised by Co-Curriculum Department, Ministry of Education last Saturday at Sekolah Rendah Bendahara Lama, Brunei I.

The chief guest at the function was Awang Ali bin Haji Ismail from the Co-Curriculum Department who also presented the prizes to the winner.

Participants were the pupils from Sekolah-Sekolah Rendah Kawasan Brunei I.

Kg Bendahara Lama celebrates Maulud By Faadzillah Raheemah Safri

Kg Bendahara Lama council held a Maulud Nabi celebration yesterday at the multipurpose hall of the village. The event was attended by villagers of Kg Bendahara Lama and nearby residents.

Motivational Talk for Year 6

04 March 2009 - 175 students from SR Pusar Ulak, SR Raja Isteri Fatimah, SR Bendahara Lama, SR Datu Godam and SR Hj Tarif attended a motivational talk at SR Pusar Ulak Main Hall. The talk was delivered by Dr Ee Ah Meng from Counselling and Career Guidance Section, Ministry of Education.

Beside the talk, some activities were carried out such as mind mapping to help the students to organise their ideas in simplest way so that it will be easier for them to remember some facts. Other than that, five students representing each participating schools were involved in a competition whereby they were to estimate how many push-ups they will be able to do within a minute. Most of them looked down at their own capabilities. Some even guess they can only do 7 push-ups only. After the stated time.. of course with the motivations from their schoolmates, every can double and triple their estimation. Congratulations to SR Pusar Ulak's representatives, Awg Tashimudin who estimated he would only do 20 push-ups, managed to do 70 push-ups instead.. the highest score of all!! Well done..

The moral here is to never underestimate of your own capabilities.. especially when everyone is supporting you...

Acara menaikkan bendera ini di adakan di rumah penghulu Mukim Tamoi pada 10 Februari lalu. Guru besar SR Bendahara lama telah dijemput menyaksikan acara tersebut.
